The Kitchen Table

In 2000, my wife and I spent more on a kitchen table and six chairs than I did on my first car.

We didn't do it to keep up with the neighbors or because of "Same-as-Cash" financing at the furniture store.  We did it as an investment in our family's future.

You see, the kitchen table is where I learned the most important things in life.

The kitchen table is where I learned to get along with my older brother and sister.  The kitchen table is where I learned to appreciate and respect my grandparents.  The kitchen table is where I learned what it means to meet a family and discover what makes them special.

Everyday at breakfast and supper, I sit down to a physical reminder of the value of a family. The kitchen table has been the best investment I've ever made.
